[ Catching sight of him catching sight of her, she goes instantly red, which highlights the freckles brilliantly but also, in her observation probably makes her look like a proper git. ]

[ So very very red in the face, but doing her very best to glare and hide a grin. It's not working. ]

i'll just look at the wall from now on. i know the fainting couch isn't fit for purpose, i'd hate for you to suffer.

[ Talking shit and making it worse for herself table for one. ]

( He looks up, unbidden. )

[ She might be blushing furiously and fairly certain that she's going to die but Lily stares right back, because if he's going to be murderous she is going to do her damndest to murder him right back. This is courtship right? ]

You're lucky there are other people present.

( It's probably for the best. Remus doesn't think he's quite ready for the bubbling cauldron of his feelings to overflow. He likes that Lily doesn't push. That they're so far keeping this within a realm they can both deal with.

Still, they're both teenagers. And hormones exist. )

( He hunches over his parchment for a moment, considering. The next note she gets is still scribbled out in a hurry though, as if he doesn't want to stop himself. )

[ It is with the greatest degree of cunning, (so much so that one has to wonder if old Horace was right about the girl, she may have made a wonderful Slytherin) that a small ball of parchment, miraculously unnoticed but beautifully aimed comes sailing across the room, hitting him square in the forehead. ]

Say that to my face and see what happens.

( Remus' delighted laughter is sharp and sudden when he unrolls the paper, and it's only his quick hands that hide it away fast enough for his friends not to see. Therefore it takes him a while to reply, studiously listening to the Marauders with the itch of Lily in the back of his mind. When he does get a chance, his parchment is shaped like a plane and lands gracefully across the pages of her textbook. )
